Brackets, it is advisable to take three for rods that exceed 1.80 m length. There are varied designs, including:
In 14 mm: mini and open mini.
In 22 mm: round and open round, design, regular and open regular, open and closed ends, or double.

How to choose a product
To define rod lenght , you should measure the width of the opening you want to cover and add 10 to 15cm on each end. For example, if the opening is 1.80m long you should buy a rod which is -at least- 2m long. This allows us to leave a free section so as to place the brackets.
To decide on diameter , we should consider not only the visual aspect but also the weight and size of the cloth. The heavier and bigger it is, the more diameter you will need. You also need to consider that if the rod is longer, more diameter is advisable.
It is important to take into consideration that those openings more than 2.40m wide will take two sections of rod, connected in the middle through a double-ended screw. For example, in a 3m window we would need a 3.20m rod, which would take two 1.60m rods.
Support choice is mainly according to visual effect, but there are some exceptions.
You should choose closed brackets for most uses and in some special cases a mid support. This last should be open, but it depends on each particular case.
If you use side supports –wall to wall- we always use one open and one closed (blister pack is offered like that). Design and double brackets do not have an open version, although the latter appears to be open. In case the window opens to the inside of the room, we need to pay special attention and define if the rod willl be supported on the wall, the ceiling or the rolling shutting cover –considering that we will need enough room to open the window once the rod is set-. The best choice is not to use a mid support, so that the curtain can be drawn to either side before opening the window.
When there is an opening between two walls or there is a wall on one side, and a regular support cannot be used for lack of space, we use one or two side supports. It is advisable for at least one to be open, so that the rod can be removed. In this case we do not use top brackets or caps. In case the opening is between two walls but there is room for setting the brackets on the wall, ceiling or rolling shutting cover, we should consider that we also need some space for the top brackets or caps.
Installation instructions
You only need a power drill, 6mm drill bit, screws (never use nails), 6mm drywall anchors and a pencil (none of these items is included in the packaging). In case the rod is to be located on a partition panel wall, use special drywall anchors.
1-The complete rod (with brackets and rings) should be placed in position. If possible, curtains included. At this point we should define the height of the curtain: it usually covers the upper window frame, and traditionally gets to the baseboard –although nowadays it is frequent for the fabric to rest on the floor-.
2-Mark with a pencil the place where the hole for the mid bracket should be drilled on the wall or ceiling. This will serve as a guide for the rest of the marks. The mid bracket should coincide with the middle point of the opening, so that the curtain is centred in relation to the opening. If you are not planning to use a bracket in the middle, do the mark for one of the end brackets.
3-Remove the rod.
4-Drill the hole or holes according to the bracket chosen, and insert the drywall anchors. In case you are planning to use a 35mm round bracket, it is advisable to make the holes in a cone shape and in different directions, so that the bracket is more firmly attached to the wall. This is because it will usually support more weight (in wood, fabric type and meters).
5-Place the mid bracket and screw.
6-Place the rod back in position to define the place for one of the end brackets, paying special attention to the distance between the rod and the opening frame all along. At this point we establish if the rod is straight. Never place the rod in relation to the floor, since it may be inclined in relation to the opening.
7-Repeat the operation in steps 2 to 4 (parking with the pencil and drilling).
8-Place the second bracket and screw.
9-For the collocation of the third bracket, repeat all previous steps starting at 6.
10-Place the third bracket and screw.
11-Insert the rod with the rings hanging or the loops curtain placed, and screw the top brackets or caps in the ends.
Special cases
1-When an open bracket is used in the middle, you should always position the slit facing upwards, so that the visual result is three identical brackets.
2-If the brackets are fixed to the ceiling or rolling shutting cover, it is advisable to use all closed brackets.
3-In case of an opening between two walls where you want to use 22mm round brackets –which have only one screw hole in the middle-, and since the brackets should be screwed with the rod already positioned, you should choose between two alternatives. You can drill a passing hole in the rod and screw the brackets with the rod already positioned; this alternative is better when you do not use a mid bracket or a curtain with rings.
The other option is to cut the rod in the middle, leaving room inside the mid bracket to screw it. This latter is the best choice, since it allows you to set and withdraw the rod without the need to operate the already screwed brackets. In the case of loop curtains, it is the only option that allows you to withdraw the curtain for cleaning.
4-In case 3 also, you need to remember to leave room between the end brackets and the side walls to be able to set and withdraw them.
Advice
1-In order for the rod not to move and turn when you draw the curtains, causing the tops to knock against the end brackets, use a passing screw that locks the rod to one of the brackets. This also allows you to position the rod on the opposite side of its bend when no mid bracket is used in wide openings.
2-If a hole is mistakenly done on a wall, it can be filled with white epoxy resin or any other product that has that purpose.
